Abstract: |
Low-grade manganese ore containing carbon pellets reduction is smelted with microwave heating to prepare Si-Mn alloys. Effects of reductant type, carbon ratio and alkalinity on recovery rate of manganese were investigated. The results show that Si-Mn alloy can be smelted by microwave heating of carbon-containing low-grade manganese ore pellets. Manganese recovery rate is 63.3% with charcoal as reductant, whose smelting effect is obviously better than blue carbon. Carbon ratio and alkalinity have a significant effect on smelting effect. The optimum carbon ratio is 1.3 and the optimum alkalinity is 0.7. Increasing manganese content in mixed manganese ore by mixing high-grade manganese ore has no significant effect on manganese recovery rate. |
