Abstract:
Ni-Cr-Co ternary alloy was refined by electron beam smelting. Volatilization of alloying elements during smelting was clarified with combination of thermodynamics and kinetics of elemental volatilization. The results show that Ni mass fraction rises, Cr mass fraction drops, and Co mass fraction doesn’t change much after electron beam smelting. Volatilization rate of Co is 1.37 g/(m2?s) and average temperature of melt surface during smelting is 1 980.4 K under electron beam smelting power of 15 kW. Based on the above research, mass fractions of Ni, Cr and Co in electron beam smelting FGH4096 master alloy are predicted. The theoretical calculations are in good agreement with the experimental measurements.
