Abstract:
ZnO dispersion slurry was prepared by ultrasonic dispersion method. Effect of pH value on ZnO slurry was discussed. Effects of dosage of dispersant (polyacrylic acid, PAA) and ultrasonic dispersion time on stability of ZnO slurry were investigated. Mechanism of formation of zinc oxide slurry by ultrasonic dispersion method was elaborated. The results show that stable dispersed ZnO slurry can be obtained by adding 1.5% (mass fraction) PAA as dispersant and ultrasonic treatment of 120 min at pH=7. There are three stages in ultrasonic dispersion method, namely wetting, ultrasonic dispersion, and stability of dispersion solution. During this process smaller ZnO agglomeration will be generated. Addition of PAA will not only improve dispersion efficiency, but also play a role in stabilizing smaller aggregates.
