| Abstract: |
| Dust samples taken online from a commercial flash smelting furnace in its normal operation and from locations on its gas line were analyzed. Dust morphology and particle size variation, and dust generation conditions are investigated. It is found that, dust is not the un-reacted fine concentrate particles from reaction shaft, but is over-oxidized fine molten ball particle not falling into the settler from the shaft. Silica and converting slag particles are hard to be converted to dust. Reaction shaft height has a big effect on dust generation, and higher shaft is beneficial to lower dust generation. Process mechanism of dust generation in a commercial flash smelting furnace is proposed. |
