Abstract:
Extraction performance of gallium from sulfuric acid medium by P204 was tested. Effects of feed acidity, extractant concentration, time, phase ratio and temperature on extraction and stripping of gallium were investigated. The isotherms of extraction and stripping were plotted, and counter current experimental process was simulated. The results show that extraction rate of gallium is 99.33% from solution containing 0.3 g/L Ga3+ and pH=1.2 as feed liquor after three-stage counter current extraction with 20% P204 (volume fraction) in sulphonated kerosene as extractant, O/A=1/3, temperature of 25 ℃, time of 8 min. Gallium stripping rate from loaded organic phase with 1.0 mol/L H2SO4 is 98.99% after three-stage counter current stripping with O/A=10/1, temperature of 25 ℃, and time of 10 min. After the whole process, gallium concentration enriches by about 30 times. After precipitating by ammonia and calcination, gallium in stripping solution can be recovered as Ga2O3 product.
