Abstract:
A large amount of stockpiling vanadium tailings and red mud tends to cause serious threat to environment and need to be solved urgently. Both vanadium tailings and red mud contain silicate and aluminosilcate minerals with potential to be used as raw materials for synthesis of geopolymer. Vanadium tailings and red mud are activated by calcination to prepare geopolymer under action of alkaline activator. The results show that mixed calcination can effectively improve activity of vanadium tailings and red mud and increase compressive strength of geopolymer. When mass ratio of vanadium tailings and red mud is 4︰6, compressive strength of geopolymer at 7 d reaches 32.41 MPa, which meets the requirements of MU30 for ordinary concrete small block. This study provides a method for collaborative utilization of multiple solid wastes.
