Abstract:
Bioleaching is favored to low grade or complex minerals composition uranium ores due to its advantages of economical, efficient and friendly environment actions. Different kinds of microorganisms should be chosen according to ore properties and leaching processes. Main types of microorganisms used in the process of uranium bioleaching, their growth characteristics, principles of uranium bioleaching and these practical applications are reviewed, of which the following aspects are highly focused: uranium dissolution by iron-oxidizing and sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, siderophore, low molecular weight organic acids and EPSs.
