Abstract:
Raw materials of comprehensive recovery and utilization of a copper and cobalt resource in Congo (DRC) are composed of refractory copper and cobalt ore, concentrate of cyclones grading fine mud, flotation low-grade copper oxide concentrate, and copper flotation tailings re-magnetic separation concentrate. The designed scale of project is 3 500 t/d, with an annual output of cathode copper of 50 kt and cobalt hydroxide of 11 236 t (cobalt metal 3 kt). This project started on March 24, 2018. In September 2019, copper recovery rate and copper yield of project reached the design standard. Monthly copper yield is 4 250.47 t and copper recovery rate is 90.27%. Main technical indexes such as consumption of sulfuric acid, sodium pyrosulfite, flocculant, and current efficiency are also better than the design. From September to December, cumulative comprehensive cost of one ton of copper is $2 983.13 and cash cost is $2 218.77. Combined cost of one ton of cobalt is $13 442.57 and cash cost is $10 041.79.
