Abstract:
Ceramsites were prepared through high-temperature chlorination roasting applying cyanidation tailings as raw materials and bentonite, sodium feldspar, CaCl2 and coal powder as additives. Physical and chemical properties of cyanide tailings such as phase composition and microstructure were analyzed with XRD, SEM, XRF, TG/DTA, ICP-OES and so on. Water absorption, bulk density, and heavy metal volatility of resultant ceramsite samples were measured. Ceramsites with the best performance parameters in original samples were selected for morphology analysis. The results indicate that cyanide tailings show a maximum utilization rate up to 75%, water absorption rate of ceramsite of one hour is 9.45%, and bulk density of ceramsite is 642.93 kg/m3. Volatility rates of heavy metals of Au, Ag, Cu, Pb and Zn is 83.02%, 65.31%, 75.89%, 90.65%, and 85.34%, respectively.
