Abstract:
Thermodynamic basis of selective oxidation decomposition of sulfide minerals in anode area during slurry electrolysis of antimony gold concentrate was studied. The results show that standard oxidation decomposition potential of pyrite is lower than that of stibnite, from perspective of thermodynamics, pyrite would be preferentially oxidized and decomposed. Oxidation decomposition potential of stibnite and pyrite drops with addition of chloride ions in solution, and stibnite drops more rapidly. Under the conditions of study, when Cl- concentration is bigger than 2.05 mol/L, decomposition potential of stibnite is lower than that of pyrite, which makes preferential selective oxidation decomposition of stibnite possible in thermodynamics. During treatment of antimony gold concentrate by slurry electrolysis, antimony leaching rate is 98% above, while iron leaching rate is 8% below, therefore, selective leaching of antimony is realized.
