Abstract:
Metal lithium was produced from molten LiCl-KCl melt under 653-693 K. Different atmosphere effects of Ar, air, N2 and O2 on current efficiency of LiCl-KCl electrolysis were investigated. The results show that oxygen and water vapor have disadvantageous effects on lithium electrolysis. Thermodynamic calculation on reaction process is performed, and effect mechanism of water on electrolysis under different conditions is analyzed.
