Abstract:
Electrolysis cell is main equipment of aluminum electrolysis production. Life of electrolysis cell directly affects production cost and economic benefit of enterprise. If cell cannot reach designed life, or even early damage occurs, it will increase average cost per ton of aluminum. Long life of cell is a long-term research topic in aluminum industry. Based on study of a 500 kA electrolytic cell in an electrolytic aluminum enterprise, causes of early damage include defects in quality of impervious material used in furnace, excessive speed of baking and heating, unreasonable matching of technical conditions, and large fluctuation of series current intensity. Based on those analysis, measures to prevent early damage of electrolytic cell are put forward, which can provide reference to prolong service life of electrolytic cell.
