Abstract:
Beneficiation of Ni, Cu and Co from polymetallic nodules by metallic reduction roasting and magnetic separation was studied. Effects of CaF2 dosage, reduction roasting temperature, SiO2 dosage, pyrite dosage, anthracite dosage, and reduction roasting time on recovery of Ni, Cu and Co were investigated. The results show that concentrate containing 10.09% Ni, 7.86% Cu and 1.59% Co is obtained with recovery of 96.72% Ni, 88.28% Cu and 95.81% Co, respectively under the optimum conditions including pelletizing of ore with addition of 4% CaF2, 2.5% SiO2, 4% pyrite and 7% anthracite, reduction temperature of 1 150 ℃, and reduction time of 2 h, followed by magnetic separation at 160 kA/m. High efficient recovery of valuable components in ocean polymetallic nodules is realized.
