Abstract:
Cobalt was leached from cobalt intermediate under condition of blast oxidation with ferrous sulfate. Fe2+ reduces Co3+ to Co2+, and Fe2+ reacts with oxygen to form FeOOH, meanwhile producing acid, which can further leach cobalt intermediate. Co leaching rate is 99.7% under the optimum conditions including temperature of 80 ℃, Fe/Co molar ratio of 1.05, L/S of 8, leaching time of 3h, air blowing volume rate of 8 L/min, and potential of 285 mV. This method is eco-friendly without using of acid, alkali, or reductant. It provides a new solution for leaching of cobalt intermediate and removing iron from ferrous leaching solution.
