Abstract:
Red mud is an alkaline industrial solid waste produced in alumina production. CO2 absorption mineralized materials was prepared from red mud. The transfer characteristics of Na+ in red mud and relationship between pH value and absorption efficiency were analyzed. The results show that there is a certain amount of cancrinite and calcite in red mud after CO2 mineralization absorbed by red mud slurry, and the specific surface area rises to 12.0 m2/g. At the same time, part of Na+ transfers from red mud into the solution, and Na+ concentration in the solution rises to 2.81 g/L. The absorption efficiency of mineralization CO2 by red mud is 27% above, and pH value of red mud generated after CO2 mineralization remains stable at about 7.5.
