| Abstract: |
| Metallurgical relics such as slag, ore and furnace wall unearthed from Houbeishan site in Wuzhou, Guangxi were scientifically analyzed by scanning electron microscope energy spectrometer. Based on the scientific detection results of slag morphology, matrix composition and material equivalence, and the analysis of furnace type, the results show that Houbeishan site is an ancient bloomery iron smelting site. The Houbeishan site is the earliest smelting site discovered in Wuzhou region and scientifically excavated at present. The study of this site provides important clue for exploring the origin, development and dissemination of ancient iron smelting technology in Wuzhou area and Lingnan area. |
