Abstract:
The removal of phosphorus, fluorine and organic matter from simulated solution by three adsorption materials, coal carbon, shell charcoal and straw ash, was studied. The simultaneous removal of various pollutants from phosphogypsum water solution was studied. The results show that the removal sequence of phosphorus and fluorine by three adsorbents occurred is straw ash > coal carbon > shell charcoal, and the removal sequence of organic matter is coal carbon > straw ash > shell charcoal. Phosphorus and fluorine are easily removed under the high acid conditions, while organic debris is little affected. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir model both provide good fits for the adsorption processes of phosphorus, fluorine on straw ash, and organic matter on coal carbon, with the theoretical maximum adsorption capacities of 88.20 mg/g for phosphorus, 63.98 mg/g for fluorine, and 131.32 mg/g for organic matter. The residual concentration of pollutants in phosphogypsum washing solution are 9.57 mg/L for phosphorus, 12.88 mg/L for fluorine and 31.86 mg/L for organic matter, and the pH value is 8.95 after reaction for 120 min with the simultaneous addition of 120 g/L straw ash and 50 g/L coal carbon, which successfully meets the requirements of “Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Phosphate Fertilizer Industry” (GB 15580—2011). The removal mechanisms of phosphorus, fluorine by straw ash are electrostatic adsorption and chemical precipitation, and the removal mechanisms of organic matter by coal carbon is ion exchange and physical adsorption.
