Abstract:
Based on a 420 kA aluminum reduction cell, a transient calculation model of alumina concentration field was established. The results show that current enhancement increases the non-uniformity of alumina concentration distribution, and the uniformity of alumina concentration distribution cannot be effectively improved by changing the feeding frequency at the same time. In order to solve this problem, the optimization strategies of alumina feeding in the process of current enhancement were proposed: alternate feeding in group and separately controlling the feeding-point frequency. The optimal feeding strategies were simulated and analyzed when enhancing the current. The results show that the fluctuation range of the area with high alumina concentration decreases under the condition of alternate feeding in group, thus reducing the fluctuation of alumina concentration in the bath. When the frequency of the feed point is controlled separately, the area where the local concentration is too high is greatly reduced, and the uniformity of the alumina concentration distribution is effectively improved.
