Abstract:
The component and leaching characteristic of arsenic slag from an abandoned arsenic factory sites in Guangxi were explored. The results indicate that the arsenic slag is acidic with pH value of 3.36 and its main pollutants include As, Zn, Pb, Cu and Cd, with the total content of 17 404, 2 043, 1 459, 1 376 and 570 mg/kg, respectively. The dominant heavy metal carrier minerals are arsenic-bearing jarosite, scorodite, carminite, arthurite, franklinite and marmatite and so on. The heavy metals need to be stabilized are As, Zn, Cu, Cd, with the leaching concentration of 0.69, 85.33, 41.62 and 2.58 mg/L, respectively using sulphuric acid and nitric acid method, and the pH value of leachate is 3.65. The arsenic slag has a strong acid buffer capacity. To realize the synchronous stabilization of As, Zn, Cu and Cd in arsenic slag, it is necessary to use a multifunctional composite stabilization material with strong alkaline.
