| Abstract: |
| Pingshan Warring States Iron Smelting Site is located on the west side of Beibaijia''an village, Pingshan county, Shijiazhuang city, Hebei province, covering an area of about 47 000 m2. In July 2022, field investigation was carried out on the site and metallurgical relics such as slag and furnace wall were obtained. 10 samples of slag were detected and analyzed by means of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy spectrum analysis (SEM-EDX) and metallographic (mineral) observation. The smelting properties and technical characteristics of the site were discussed based on the chemical composition and microstructure of the slag. The results indicate that the site is an iron smelting site, with a technical type of cast iron smelting, and the iron smelting slag belongs to the Ca-Si-Al series of high calcium slag. |
