Abstract:
Zr70Cu13.5Ni8.5Al8 amorphous alloy was prepared by suction casting method. The microstructures and mechanical properties of the amorphous alloy were characterized and tested by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and universal testing machine respectively. The phase composition and shear bands of the sample were observed by XRD and SEM. The results show that with the increase of casting power, the thermal stability and glass forming ability are improved continuously. The more obvious the rheological phenomenon of Zr70Cu13.5Ni8.5Al8 amorphous alloy, the better the comprehensive mechanical properties. When the casting power is 8 kW, the yield strength, compressive strength and plasticity of the sample reach the highest value, the comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature are the best, and the shear band distribution is the best. However, the mechanical properties deteriorate as the casting power continues to increase.
