Abstract:
Secondary aluminum dross is a hazardous waste produced by aluminum industry, and it is also an aluminum-rich resource. Calcium aluminate for steelmaking was prepared by mixing, ball milling, forming and sintering with wet pretreated secondary aluminum ash and limestone as raw materials. The optimum preparation process conditions for calcium aluminate include mass ratio of high alumina material to limestone of 0.5, sintering temperature of 1 350 ℃, and forming pressure of 10 MPa. The Al2O3 and CaO contents of the prepared calcium aluminate sample meet the composition requirements of the CA-40 grade in "Pre-melted Calcium-aluminate for Steelmaking" (YB/T 4265—2011), and the main phase is 12CaO?7Al2O3. It has the properties of low silicon, low magnesium, low iron oxide, low phosphorus, low sulfur, low fluorine, and low carbon, and the melting point is 1 378 ℃, which meets the quality standards of pre-melted calcium aluminate products for steelmaking.
