Abstract:
As hazardous wastes in the aluminum industry, waste cathode carbon blocks and anode carbon residues are usually treated separately for resource utilization. This process involves multiple steps with high costs and low efficiency of resource utilization. The mixed raw materials of waste cathode carbon block and anode carbon slag were treated by roasting and water leaching. The influence factors of the collaborative treatment were analyzed by phase characterization, thermodynamic calculation, single factor experiments, and orthogonal experiments. The results show that under the optimal conditions of reagent ratio of 1.25, calcination temperature of 900 ℃ and calcination time of two hours, the reaction rate of synergistic raw material fluoride reaches 89.52%, and the carbon content of graphite powder reaches 80.15%. This process proves the feasibility of collaborative disposal of hazardous carbon waste from aluminum electrolysis, and can be applied to industrial production after further optimization of conditions to reduce the risk of secondary pollution from aluminum electrolysis
